Help extend the Energy Efficient Tax Credit for Replacement Windows and doors

The United States Senate is proposing a bill that would extend the energy efficient federal tax credit program that involves Replacement Windows and Doors. If this bill gets passed, it would extend the currant tax credit for Replacement Windows and doors one more year. The currant bill has allowed many contractors hit hard by the housing industry melt down to stay afloat. We’ve seen a significant increase in business this quarter which has allowed Western Construction and other contractors around the country to hire additional crews and put people back to work. Lets not forget about all the great replacement window  manufactures who make the windows, the raw materials needed to produce the windows and the rest of the trickle down that is needed for our country.

If you think this legislation should pass , you can contact your representatives in Congress and the Senate about voting for the bill.

All you need to do is go to www.house.gov and enter your zip code in the upper left corner of the page. For the Senate you can go to www.senate.gov and select your state from the drop down menus in the upper right corner of the page.

The legislation is fairly long and boring so her’s the part I’m concerned with.

Energy-efficient existing home. The bill extends through December 31, 2011 the period in which the section 25C tax credit (30% credit, $1500 maximum) for energy-efficient property in existing homes, as modified by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, can be claimed. Effective January 1, 2010, the bill also links eligibility for windows purchased with the tax credit to Energy Star requirements, which account for different climate regions in the United States.

The housing industry has lead the United States out of every recession we’ve had, so lets get behind this legislation and get Americans back to work.

Thank You,
