New Federal Energy Tax Credit for Qualifying MN Replacement Windows and Doors

Time is running out to take advantage of the new MN Replacement Window energy tax credits! This legislation, which took effect January 1, 2009 and ends December 31st, 2010 provides consumers with limited tax credits for making their homes more energy efficient.

Here are the facts about the new energy tax credits:

  • Provides a consumer tax credit up to $1,500 for 30% of the cost of qualified remodeling projects that improve the energy efficiency of an existing home—including replacement windows.
  • Applies to any ENERGY STAR qualified windows and doors purchased from January 1, 2009 to May 31, 2009.
  • Applies to windows and doors with a U-value of at least 0.30 and solar heat gain coefficient of at least 0.30 purchased from June 1, 2009 to December 31, 2010.
